Niobrara State Park occupies a striking landscape where the Niobrara River meets the Missouri River, creating dramatic bluffs and diverse ecosystems. The park's 1,640 acres support a mix of eastern deciduous forest and western pine-covered hills, making it a transitional zone with exceptional wildlife diversity. Buffalo cookouts are offered on select Saturdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The campground is divided into two main areas: a modern RV section with 76 electric sites featuring 30-amp and 50-amp hookups, and 30 basic sites without electricity spread along three miles of winding, hilly road with sweeping views of both rivers. All sites include picnic tables and grills. Campground amenities include modern flush restrooms, coin-operated showers and laundry facilities, a dump and fill station, and a free WiFi hotspot near the shower house. A swimming pool, playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball court, and 14 miles of hiking trails are available for recreation. Reservations are accepted for half of the electric sites through Nebraska State Parks reservations; the remaining electric sites and all basic sites are first-come, first-served. The park also offers 19 year-round cabins perched on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River Valley.
