About

Cottonwood Day Use Shelter is a group picnic pavilion situated in the Cottonwood Day Use Area on the western shore of Lake Yankton in Nebraska, just downstream of Gavins Point Dam. This is a day-use facility only and does not offer overnight camping. The shelter closes at 10pm. The facility features lights, electricity, nearby water access, and a large grill suitable for group gatherings and events. Maximum occupancy is 200 people. Adjacent recreation options include horseshoe pits, a disc golf course, a sand volleyball court, and a playground. Lake Yankton provides ample shoreline access for fishing. Nearby attractions include Gavins Point Dam and historic Yankton, South Dakota.

Directions

Take SD Hwy 52 4 miles west to the intersection with the Toe Rd. Cottonwood Day Use Area is approximately 1 mile south on the Toe Rd.
