About
Lewis and Clark Recreation Area, 5 miles west of Yankton, is one of the state park system’s most popular resort parks. Campgrounds along the shore of Lewis and Clark Lake draw visitors from throughout the Midwest. Campsites provide 50-amp service and cozy one-room, log-style cabins have accommodation for four people, including air conditioning/ heat and electricity. Swim beaches, boat ramps, paved bike trails and a disc golf course provide a variety of outdoor activities. Two privately operated concessions are located on park grounds - Lewis and Clark Marina, South Dakota’s largest marina, features 486 boat slips, convenience store and restaurant; Lewis and Clark Resort offers a modern lodge, cabins, cottages, motel rooms and an outdoor pool for resort guests. Nearby attractions include Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery and Aquarium and Gavins Point Dam.
