Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area encompasses Nebraska's second-largest reservoir, drawing its name from the famous expedition that camped nearby during their exploration of the Louisiana Purchase. The park spans multiple camping areas along both the north and south shores of Lewis and Clark Lake, offering more than 150 sites with electrical hookups and over 100 basic tent sites. Campers can choose from five distinct areas: Weigand-Burbach on the north shore features full hookup and electric sites with coin-operated showers and modern restrooms; Miller Creek and Bloomfield offer alternative boat access points; South Shore provides equestrian camping with corrals and access to 4.5 miles of multi-use trails; and Deep Water rounds out the options. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring or grill, with drinking water spigots located throughout. Beyond camping, the park offers ten modern two-bedroom cabins available year-round, plus disc golf, hiking, fishing, and birding. A major marina upgrade project at Weigand is underway through 2026, though campgrounds and most facilities remain fully operational during construction.
