About

Nine Eagles State Park sits in the rolling hills of Decatur County near the Missouri border, preserving one of Iowa's most rugged landscapes of wooded valleys and oak-covered ridges. The park's 64-acre lake serves as the centerpiece, offering fishing for bass and bluegill, an unsupervised swimming beach, and a boat ramp for non-motorized and electric watercraft. The park operates three distinct campground areas totaling 59 sites. The main campgrounds offer 28 electric sites with 20/30/50 amp service and 20 non-electric sites, all served by modern shower houses and restrooms. Pull-through sites accommodate larger RVs up to 76 feet. A separate equestrian camping area provides 7 primitive sites with fire rings, pit toilets, water, and hitching rails, connecting to a 7-mile bridle trail system. Campers can explore 9 miles of hiking trails including a 3-mile loop around the lake. A one-bedroom family cabin with full kitchen and covered deck offers an alternative to tent and RV camping. The park requires reservations for all sites through ReserveAmerica and operates seasonally from April 1 through October 31.
