About
Niagara Creek Campground offers a peaceful, rustic camping experience in the Stanislaus National Forest, situated in a scenic mixed conifer forest along Niagara Creek. The campground features 10 campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Located approximately 17 miles east of Pinecrest and about 15 miles from the Summit Ranger Station, the campground is accessed by turning right off Highway 108 onto Eagle Meadow Road (Forest Road 5N01) and traveling about one mile. This is a basic, no-frills campground operating on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. The main road and parking pads are dirt-surfaced. Potable water is not available at the campground, though creek water can be treated or filtered for use. Vault toilets are provided. The campground serves as a good base for exploring the area's recreation opportunities, including the nearby Trail of the Ancient Dwarfs, mountain biking, stream fishing, and scenic drives to Donnell Vista and Sonora Pass. The site was historically used as a construction camp in the 1860s during the building of the Sonora and Mono Wagon Road, which is now Highway 108.
