About

Fence Creek Campground is nestled in a mixed conifer forest high above the Clark Fork of the Stanislaus River in Stanislaus National Forest. This rustic campground features 38 sites spread throughout the wooded setting, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The main road and parking pads are dirt-surfaced, providing a more primitive camping experience. Located about 21 miles east of Pinecrest and 20 miles from the Summit Ranger Station, the campground is accessed via Forest Road 6N06 off Clark Fork Road. Turn left off Highway 108 at Clark Fork Road to reach the campground. The area offers opportunities for fishing in the river, hiking, horseback riding at nearby Kennedy Meadows, and scenic viewing. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply as potable water is not available on-site, though water can be treated or filtered from nearby sources. Vault toilets are provided. This is a first-come, first-served campground with a 14-day maximum stay. Sites accommodate up to six people and cost $15 per night during the 2025 season. Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount. Cash or check payment is required.
