About
Eagle Meadows Horse Camp is a dedicated equestrian campground in the Stanislaus National Forest, accessed via Eagle Meadow Road (5N01) off Highway 108. The facility caters specifically to campers traveling with horses and mules, providing an ideal base for exploring surrounding trails and meadows. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system or fees required. Each designated campsite accommodates up to six people with a maximum stay of 14 consecutive days. Due to the presence of horses and mules that can be easily spooked, OHV operation within the campground is strongly discouraged. Visitors should expect primitive conditions with vault toilets available but no water on site. All drinking and stock water must be packed in. The campground sits at mid-to-high elevation in mixed conifer forest and is subject to seasonal road closures during winter months, typically from mid-November through late spring depending on snow conditions. Visitors should practice Leave No Trace principles and pack out all trash.
Directions
From Highway 108, approximately 15 miles east of Strawberry, turn onto Eagle Meadow Road (Forest Road 5N01). Follow the road to the campground. Note that access roads are subject to seasonal winter closures.
