About
Eagle Meadows Horse Camp is a free, primitive equestrian campground located in the Mi-Wok/Summit Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest. The campground is specifically designed for visitors camping with horses and mules, making it an ideal base for backcountry riding in the central Sierra Nevada. The campground offers basic amenities including picnic tables at sites and vault toilets, but no potable water is available. Campers must bring all water and pack out all trash. Campfires and stoves are allowed with a free campfire permit obtainable from preventwildfireca.org or the Summit Ranger Station. Each site accommodates up to six people with a maximum stay of 14 days. To protect horses and mules from being spooked, OHV operation in the campground is discouraged. The Forest Service asks visitors to camp only in designated sites and practice Leave No Trace principles.
