About
Boulder Flat Campground is situated in a mixed conifer forest along the banks of the Stanislaus River in Stanislaus National Forest. The campground offers 20 camping sites, including one double site and two walk-in sites. Each site features a picnic table and fire pit. The main road is paved with dirt-surfaced parking pads providing easy access to campsites. The campground is located along Highway 108, approximately 21 miles east of Pinecrest and 20 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station. Boulder Flat serves as a convenient base for exploring the Sonora Pass area, with opportunities for fishing in the Stanislaus River, hiking, and scenic driving. Nearby attractions include Kennedy Meadows for horseback riding and the Columns of the Giants and Donnell Vista interpretive sites. Campers should note that there is no potable water available at this campground, so visitors must bring their own water supply. There is no designated trail to the river, and visitors are encouraged to practice Leave No Trace principles. The campground is operated by Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort under a special use permit from the Forest Service.
