About

Nebraska Tailwaters Campground is nestled along the Nebraska bank of the Missouri River, immediately downstream of Gavins Point Dam and Lewis & Clark Lake. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this campground provides exceptional access to the Missouri River with a large two-lane boat ramp, accessible fishing pier, and numerous bank fishing opportunities. The area attracts over 2 million visitors annually and is renowned for year-round bald eagle viewing. The campground offers 36 sites total: 34 with electric hookups and 2 non-electric tent-only sites, plus a group camping area. Modern amenities include shower facilities with flush toilets, potable water, an RV dump station, fish cleaning station, picnic tables, fire pits, and grills. Recreation opportunities extend beyond fishing to include hiking, boating, swimming, bird-watching, and photography along the golden chalkstone-lined Missouri River valley. Nearby attractions include the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center with powerhouse tours, Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery and Aquarium, and historic Yankton, South Dakota. Multiple trails serve hikers and bikers, including a paved trail connecting Yankton to the Gavins Point area.
