Natural Tunnel State Park Shelters And Hunts
Shelters are available for day-use rental from 8 a.m. to dusk, operating March 1 through November 30. Managed hunts occur during designated archery and shotgun seasons. These are day-use facilities only; overnight camping is available at separate campground areas within the park.

Natural Tunnel State Park's Shelters and Hunts reservation category includes five day-use picnic shelters and managed hunting opportunities within the park's 850 acres in Scott County, Virginia. The shelters range from small pavilions accommodating up to 40 people to large shelters that can host up to 150 guests. Shelter 5, the largest at 30x60 feet, features 20 picnic tables, two Texas-style grills, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, and a 230-foot paved walkway. The park's managed hunt program offers archery and shotgun seasons for deer hunting, designed for both novice and experienced hunters. Hunters must register through the state parks reservation system and pay a non-refundable $15 per day fee. All participants must provide proof of hunter safety course completion and wear blaze orange or pink. The shelters are located within a scenic state park known for its massive natural tunnel carved through Purchase Ridge by Stock Creek. While the shelters are for day-use only, the park also offers separate overnight accommodations including cabins, yurts, and campgrounds with full hookups.

From I-81, take exit 1 (Gate City/Duffield). Follow US-58 Alternate west approximately 15 miles through Gate City. Turn right onto Route 871 and follow signs to Natural Tunnel State Park at 1420 Natural Tunnel Parkway, Duffield, VA 24244.
