About
Murdock Campground is a small, rustic 11-site campground located in the North Fork Canyon within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Set beneath a pine canopy at approximately 6,800 feet elevation, the campground offers a peaceful setting just 2 miles from the SNRA Headquarters and 8 miles north of Ketchum. The area is prized for fishing in the Big Wood River and Murdock Creek. Multiple trailheads nearby provide access to the Hemingway-Boulder Wilderness, including the North Fork, West Fork, and East Fork trails. Wildlife viewing is excellent, with stunning mountain vistas of Ryan Peak, Kent Peak, Glassford Peak, and Silver Peak, all exceeding 11,000 feet. All sites are first-come, first-served with payment via fee envelope or Recreation.gov Scan and Pay. Campers should bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. Stay limits are 10 days within a 30-day period across the SNRA. Sites accommodate up to 8 people and 2 vehicles.
