Morrison-Rockwood State Park campground sits within a 1,164-acre park in Whiteside County, north of Morrison in northwestern Illinois. The 92 campsites are nestled in heavily forested terrain featuring native hardwoods that support over 150 bird species. All sites include electric hookups, grills, and picnic tables. Lake Carlton, created by a 1969 dam on a stream-fed reservoir, serves as the park's centerpiece and draws anglers and birders alike. The campground offers a shower building with flush toilets that operates seasonally from May 1 through October 31. A trailer dump station is available for RV users. Reservations for 59 of the 92 sites can be made through the ExploreMoreIL system, while the remaining sites are first-come, first-served. Four designated ADA campsites feature large paved pads for vehicles and campers with additional paved space in front for wheelchair access. Beyond camping, the park offers archery, boating, cross-country skiing, equestrian trails, fishing, geocaching, hiking, hunting, metal detecting, and picnicking. The equestrian facilities and trails close seasonally from November 1 through April 30.

Directions

From Chicago, take I-88 west to Illinois Route 78, then head north through Morrison following park signs. Turn left on Crosby Road, following the signs, to the park entrance in about 1.5 miles.
