Mississippi Palisades State Park Campground occupies a prime location within one of Illinois' most scenic parks, where the Mississippi and Apple rivers converge amid towering limestone palisades. The 2,500-acre park preserves dramatic bluffs, caves, and sinkholes carved over millennia, with the campground providing convenient access to this geological showcase. The campground comprises 241 Class A and B sites spread across both shaded and open areas. Electric hookups are available at 110 sites. Three shower buildings with flush toilets serve campers from May 1 through October 31, and potable water is available throughout. Two sanitary dump stations accommodate RV travelers. Seven accessible campsites offer wheelchair-accessible picnic tables and grills, with accessible restrooms and showers in all three shower buildings. Beyond camping, the park offers extensive hiking trails through the bluffs, rock climbing opportunities, fishing access, and the 200-foot wheelchair-accessible Oak Point Lookout trail with Mississippi River views. The park's Native American history and CCC-era shelter add cultural depth to the natural attractions.
