About
Collier-Seminole State Park Campground sits within a 7,271-acre park that lies partly within one of the largest mangrove swamps in the world. This unique location on the edge of the Everglades offers campers an authentic Florida wilderness experience with vegetation and wildlife typical of the Everglades ecosystem. The campground features developed sites equipped with electricity, water hookups, grills, and picnic tables, making it suitable for both RV and tent camping. The full-facility campground includes restrooms with hot showers and on-site laundry facilities for extended stays. RV campers have access to a dump station. The park is home to imperiled species and an unusual blend of temperate and tropical native plant communities, including one of only three original stands of royal palm in Florida. Wildlife viewing opportunities are exceptional, with possibilities to see black bears, manatees, alligators, crocodiles, and even the elusive Florida panther. From the campground, visitors can access the Blackwater River via the park's boat ramp or canoe rentals for paddling the 13.5-mile canoe trail through mangroves to Blackwater Bay and the Ten Thousand Islands. The park offers several trails for bicycling, hiking, and nature observation. A National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark, the Bay City Walking Dredge used to build the Tamiami Trail in the 1920s, is on display. Park rangers present educational programs on plants, animals, and history from December through March.
