About

Mississinewa Lake campground sits on one of three Upper Wabash flood-control reservoirs managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operated by Indiana DNR. The property encompasses 14,386 acres surrounding a 3,210-acre lake in the heart of north-central Indiana, about nine miles southeast of Peru. The campground offers 431 sites across multiple loops: 82 full hookup sites with water, sewer, and metered electricity; 316 electric-only sites; and 39 non-electric sites. Additional accommodations include 8 rent-a-camp cabins with electricity, youth tent areas, and a separate seasonal campground that pioneered long-term camping in Indiana state properties. The campground features modern amenities including comfort stations with flush toilets and showers, a dump station, fish cleaning stations, and recreational facilities such as basketball courts, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. Many sites accommodate larger RVs with driveway lengths up to 72 feet. All facilities typically open by May 15th, with full services available through the peak season. During off-season winter camping, limited services are available. Beyond camping, Mississinewa Lake provides four boat ramps, a marina at Red Bridge State Recreation Area, two fishing piers, a swimming beach (open Memorial Day through Labor Day), and multiple hiking trails including the self-guided Heron Trail and Pine Tree Trail. The surrounding forests, prairies, and farmland attract diverse wildlife, making the property popular with bird watchers, hikers, and anglers. The lake also offers hunting opportunities in designated areas during appropriate seasons.
