About
Mills Canyon Rim Campground is located at 5,760 feet elevation on the rim of the Canadian River Canyon within the Kiowa National Grassland in northeastern New Mexico. This primitive campground offers 6 camping units designed to accommodate RVs and trailers that cannot navigate the steep descent to the lower Mills Canyon Campground in the canyon bottom. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. No potable water or trash collection services are available, so visitors must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The location offers stunning views of the red-rock canyon, which drops 700 feet below and spans over a mile from rim to rim. The area is popular for horseback riding, hunting, hiking, birdwatching, and exploring the Canadian River Canyon. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations required. Open year-round, it provides a remote camping experience in one of New Mexico's scenic grassland canyons.
