About

Eagle Nest Lake State Park campground occupies a stunning alpine setting at 8,200 feet elevation near the town of Eagle Nest in Colfax County, New Mexico. Part of the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, the park centers on the 2,200-acre Eagle Nest Lake, renowned for rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, and yellow perch fishing. The campground underwent major renovations completing in spring 2026, upgrading all 19 sites with electric and water hookups. The Lakeview Campground offers a mix of seven pull-through sites and twelve back-in sites, with maximum lengths ranging from 35 to 107 feet depending on the site. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and shade structure. Two ADA-accessible sites are available. Vault restrooms serve the campground; there are no showers or dump station on site. Beyond camping, the park offers boat ramps, a visitor center, hiking trails, and designated horseback riding areas. The high elevation provides a cool summer retreat, though campers should be prepared for variable mountain weather and check current fire restrictions before arrival.
