Middle Dredge Campsite

Open

Open year-round for primitive backcountry camping. Reservations required through Recreation.gov at $25 per night. Separate park entrance fee required upon arrival. Check-in and check-out both at 11:00 AM.

About

Middle Dredge Campsite is one of fourteen primitive island campsites in the Mosquito Lagoon backcountry of Canaveral National Seashore. Positioned across from Seminole Rest Historic Site on the northeast side of a dredge spoil island, the site offers an immersive paddling and camping experience in one of Florida's most pristine coastal lagoon ecosystems. The closest channel marker is #9A. This is a true backcountry experience with no developed amenities. Campers must bring all supplies including approximately one gallon of drinking water per person per day, and pack out everything they bring in following Leave No Trace principles. Fires are permitted only in grills or self-contained units using charcoal or natural firewood. Access requires personal watercraft; larger vessels will need to use boat ramps in the town of Oak Hill. Reservations are made through Recreation.gov at $25 per night, available up to six months in advance. Check-in and check-out are both at 11:00 AM. A separate park entrance fee is required. Cell phone coverage is recommended for emergencies.

Directions

Middle Dredge Campsite is located on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway, across from Seminole Rest Historic Site. The closest channel marker is #9A. A canoe/kayak launch is available at Seminole Rest. Larger vessels must use boat ramps in the town of Oak Hill.
