About

Middle Dredge Campsite is one of fourteen primitive boat-in island campsites within Canaveral National Seashore, positioned on a spoil island on the northeast side along the Intracoastal Waterway. Located across from the historic Seminole Rest site and marked by channel marker #9A, this remote campsite provides an authentic backcountry experience in one of Florida's most pristine coastal environments. The site is accessible only by watercraft that campers must provide themselves, as canoe rentals are not available for this location. The nearest public boat ramp is in the town of Oak Hill, and a canoe/kayak launch is available at Seminole Rest. The campsite accommodates up to 25 people and operates on a reservation-only basis at $25 per night, with reservations available up to six months in advance through Recreation.gov. No RV or vehicle camping is permitted. Check-in and check-out times are both 11:00 a.m. Campers should plan carefully, as the surrounding waterways can be shallow and weather-dependent. The camping permit does not include the park entrance fee, which must be purchased separately. All backcountry campers must be prepared for primitive conditions with no facilities, and biodegradable toilet paper is recommended. Fires are permitted only in self-contained grills or designated areas, and all coals must be completely extinguished and removed.
