About

Bennett Field Group Camp is situated within the Bennett Field Campground in Tiger Bay State Forest, a 27,000-acre preserve of woodlands and wetlands in Volusia County, approximately 10 minutes west of Daytona Beach. This primitive group camping area is designed for up to 20 people and offers a true backcountry experience with minimal amenities including a communal vault toilet and a pitcher pump providing non-potable water. Campers must bring their own drinking water and be prepared for primitive conditions with no electricity. The campground provides a gated entry system with combinations provided in reservation confirmations. Each group site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Tiger Bay State Forest features two lakes, Indian Lake and Scoggin Lake, plus several fishing ponds including Coon Pond, Rattlesnake Pond, Woody Pond, and Ranch Pond. The forest offers extensive recreational trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, including the historic Pershing Highway Trail with over a mile of brick road constructed in 1917. The forest serves as a critical aquifer recharge area and provides excellent opportunities for birding, wildlife viewing, photography, and seasonal hunting. Located conveniently near Daytona International Speedway, Tomoka State Park, and the Atlantic coast beaches, Bennett Field Group Camp offers an affordable and rustic base camp for exploring Central Florida's natural and cultural attractions.
