About

West Camp offers a true backcountry experience in Central Florida's Little Big Econ State Forest, located in Seminole County approximately 40 miles east of Orlando. The campground is hike-in only, with five individual tent sites accommodating up to six people each and one group site for up to 20 campers. Each site is equipped with a steel fire ring, charcoal grill, picnic table, and lantern holder. The forest spans over 5,000 acres along the Econlockhatchee River, providing excellent opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bird watching, and wildlife viewing. Hikers can explore moderate-difficulty trails through pine flatwoods and river floodplain habitats. Be aware that snakes, alligators, and black bears are present in the area. This is a primitive camping experience with no potable water, restrooms, or electricity. Campers must pack out all trash and bring their own water supply. Alcohol is prohibited. Fires are only permitted in existing fire rings using dead and downed wood; cutting standing trees is not allowed. Seasonal burn bans may apply.
