About
Blue Spring State Park Campground provides 51 campsites nestled in sand pine scrub, each equipped with water and electric hookups, picnic tables, and grills. The campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet and is within walking distance of the famous Blue Spring, a designated manatee refuge. Two modern bathhouses offer accessible showers and facilities, and a dump station is available on-site. The park's 72-degree spring waters attract hundreds of wintering manatees from mid-November through March, creating an unforgettable wildlife viewing experience, though water activities are prohibited during this season. From April through mid-November, visitors can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, tubing, and paddling in the crystal-clear spring run. The park features several hiking trails, including the 3.6-mile Pine Island Trail through diverse ecosystems and a quarter-mile Sand Pine Scrub Trail where the endemic Florida scrub-jay can be spotted. Additional amenities include boat tours on the St. Johns River, fishing from accessible docks, picnic pavilions, and a historic 1872 Thursby House. The park is open year-round from 8 a.m. until sundown, and reservations are recommended during peak manatee season when the park frequently reaches capacity.
