About

Meadows Campground is an aptly named, sunny campground located in alpine meadows at 6,250 feet elevation in the Hart's Pass area of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground serves as a popular base for hikers embarking on sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and for those launching hikes into the Pasayten Wilderness via numerous trailheads. A short hike to Slate Peak Lookout is nearby, offering panoramic views of the North Cascades. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with basic amenities including vault toilets and picnic tables at each site. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own. Each site has a fire pit and can accommodate up to 2 vehicles, with a maximum of 2 tents or 1 RV and 1 tent per site. There are no trash receptacles, requiring visitors to pack out all waste. Access requires driving the narrow, winding Hart's Pass Road #5400, which features steep side cliffs in places. Trailers are strictly prohibited on this road from June 1 to December 31 (except snowmobile trailers November 1 to December 31). The remote location and high elevation make this a true backcountry camping experience with light usage and spectacular mountain scenery.
