About

Ballard Campground is a quiet, forested campground operated by the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, located along the West Fork Methow River at 2,500 feet elevation. The campground provides straightforward access to multiple trailheads leading into the Pasayten Wilderness, including Robinson Creek Trail #478, Monument Creek Trail #484, and West Fork Methow Trail #480. It's also well-positioned as a base camp for exploring the scenic Hart's Pass area or pursuing rock climbing in the nearby Lost River region. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 28 feet, with a maximum of 2 vehicles, 2 tents, or 1 RV and 1 tent per site. The campground has vault toilets and picnic tables but no potable water or trash service, so campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. A scan-and-pay system is available for the $10 per night fee, with an additional $5 fee for a second vehicle. Typically accessible from May through October, the campground sees light usage and provides a peaceful setting for hikers, climbers, and those seeking a less-developed camping experience in the Methow Valley area.
