Marion Lake Campground

Marion Lake Campground, located 4 miles east of Watersmeet on the Watersmeet Ranger District, provides a tranquil camping experience on the shores of 317-acre Marion Lake. The campground features 37 individual sites spread across three camping loops, each positioned to take advantage of lakeside views with natural vegetation providing privacy between sites. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, lantern post, and parking spur accommodating tents, trailers, and motorhomes. Potable water is available via hand pumps near sites 3 and 29, with pressurized faucets near sites 11, 18, and 24. Four sets of vault toilets are distributed throughout the campground. A group camping site accommodating up to 100 people is also available and requires advance reservations through Recreation.gov. The adjacent sandy beach and day-use area offer swimming and sunbathing, while two boat launches provide access to excellent fishing. Nearby Sylvania Wilderness features old-growth forests and 34 named lakes for hiking enthusiasts.

Directions

From Watersmeet, MI, take US-2 east approximately 4 miles. Turn left onto FR 3980 and travel approximately 2 miles to FR 3985. Turn right onto FR 3985 and travel approximately 0.5 mile to the campground.
