About
Burned Dam Campground offers a quiet, primitive camping experience in the remote forests of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Located along the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River, this dispersed campground provides access to some of the best stream fishing in the area. Anglers can start upstream in Watersmeet where the river crosses US 45 or launch directly from the campground.
The campground features five rustic sites equipped with picnic tables, grills, and pit toilets. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. A short trail leads to Mex-i-mine Falls, where you can feel the history of the logging era when this area was used to transport timber to sawmills.
This is a true backcountry experience with light usage and no fees. The maintained season runs from late May through September, though access outside this window depends on weather and road conditions. Camping stay limits apply.
