Luna Lake Campground is a friendly vacation destination located at 8,000 feet elevation in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, five miles east of Alpine, Arizona. The campground features 50 single-unit sites nestled in an open ponderosa pine forest within easy walking distance of 75-acre Luna Lake, surrounded by lush meadows and first-rate mountain scenery. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and cooking grill, with parking suitable for trailers and motorhomes up to 32 feet. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout and offers excellent fishing, particularly in spring and early summer before irrigation drawdown. A boat ramp provides easy access for non-motorized watercraft, and the day use area features a marina, fishing pier, bait shop, and boat rentals. A large wetland along the lakeshore creates prime habitat for nesting waterfowl and wildlife viewing opportunities. Recreation opportunities abound with a non-motorized trail system open to horses, bicycles, and pedestrians. The campground is operated by a concessionaire and offers vault toilets and seasonal amenities. The town of Alpine is nearby for shopping and services, while the surrounding Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest provides access to the Coronado Trail Scenic Byway and Escudilla Wilderness.

Directions

From Alpine, drive 5 miles east on U.S. Highway 180 and turn north (left) onto Forest Road 570 just east of Luna Lake. Follow the gravel road one mile to the campground.
