About

Diamond Rock Campground sits along the East Fork Black River in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest at 7,890 feet elevation. This intimate campground features 12 sites, including 3 unique campsites with Adirondack-style three-sided shelters constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression era. The shelters predate the age of large RV camping and offer a historic camping experience. Campsites are positioned a few steps from the stream to protect the Black River's riparian zone, but the undergrowth enhances rather than obstructs access to the picturesque river. The campground is shaded by ponderosa pines and provides a serene setting for those seeking a quieter camping experience. As the uppermost campground in the East Fork Recreation Area, Diamond Rock is best suited for smaller rigs due to limited maneuvering space. The campground operates seasonally and is accessed via Forest Road 276, approximately 13 miles west of Alpine. Each site includes a rock fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets are provided, and pets must be restrained or leashed. The facility is concessionaire-operated with a per-night fee of $14, or $7 with an Interagency or Senior Pass.
