About

Alpine Divide Campground occupies a picturesque setting at the foot of Escudilla Mountain within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. Tucked into a cool grove of ponderosa pines at around 8,500 feet elevation, the campground provides a peaceful retreat with typically light visitation. The site serves as an excellent base camp for hikers, anglers, and wildlife watchers exploring the surrounding high-country terrain. The campground offers basic amenities including two vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings with cooking grills, and seasonal trash service. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. No utility hookups are available. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash. Access is straightforward via paved US Highway 191, just four miles north of the small mountain community of Alpine. The campground typically operates from mid-May through the end of October, weather permitting.

Directions

From Alpine, drive four miles north on paved U.S. Highway 191.
