About

Horse Springs Campground is located in the East Fork Recreation Area of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests at an elevation of 7,610 feet. The campground occupies a forested valley along the East Fork Black River, shaded by tall ponderosa pines and bordered by grasses, alders, and streamside hardwoods. The setting provides a cool mountain retreat during Arizona's hot summers. The campground features 27 single-unit sites, each with a picnic table and rock fire ring. Three vault toilet facilities serve the campground, along with a group ramada and picnic area. The East Fork provides fishing opportunities for those seeking trout. Most of the campground is relatively accessible, making it suitable for a range of campers. Horse Springs is operated by a concessionaire and charges $16 per night for single sites, with a 50% discount available for Senior/Interagency pass holders. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Water systems are typically shut down seasonally during winter months and restored when the campground reopens for the season.
