About

Horse Springs Campground is located in the East Fork Recreation Area of Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest at 7,610 feet elevation. The campground sits in a scenic forested valley where the East Fork meanders through groves of tall ponderosa pines, alders, grasses, and streamside hardwoods. The facility offers 27 single-unit sites, each equipped with a picnic table and rock fire ring. The campground includes vault toilets, a group ramada, and a dedicated picnic area. Most of the campground is relatively accessible. Hookups are not available at any site. The campground is concessionaire-operated with fees collected on-site. The remote location provides opportunities for fishing in the East Fork and wildlife viewing in the surrounding forest. Access requires traveling several miles on graveled forest roads from Alpine, making this a quieter destination compared to more accessible campgrounds in the area.

Directions

From Alpine, drive two miles north on US Highway 191 to Forest Road 249. Turn west and follow this wide, graveled road 5 miles to Forest Road 276. Turn south and follow Forest Road 276 for six miles to the East Fork Recreation Area.
