About

Lower Rush Creek Campground is a small, primitive camping area in Modoc National Forest where Rush Creek runs alongside shaded campsites. The dense canopy and streamside location create a cool retreat during warmer months. There are no fees to camp here, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious campers seeking solitude in northeastern California. The campground offers vault toilets but no potable water, so visitors must bring their own supply. Trash services are not provided; campers must pack out everything they bring in. Parking is limited and some sites are walk-in only, requiring vehicles to unhitch trailers. Dogs are welcome but must remain on leash. Access roads can become soft or impassable during winter and wet conditions. The campground opens as weather permits, typically accessible from late spring through fall depending on snowpack and road conditions. A 14-day camping limit applies.
