About

Lower Pleasant Creek Campground is located 18 miles southeast of Torrey, Utah along scenic Highway 12 at an elevation of 8,600 feet in the Fishlake National Forest. The campground features 5 first-come, first-served campsites nestled among stands of ponderosa pine that provide shade and wind protection. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit, with vault toilets and potable water available during the operating season. The campground's location offers spectacular overlooks and expansive views of Capitol Reef National Park and the Henry Mountains along the scenic byway. Anglers can enjoy trout fishing in Lower Pleasant Creek, Lower Bowns Reservoir, and Oak Creek. Hikers have access to nearby trails including the High Ranger Trail and Boulder Mountain Terrace Trail. The Great Western Trail also passes near the campground. The Wildcat Visitor Center is conveniently located nearby on Highway 12. The campground is managed by High Country Recreation under a concession permit from the Forest Service. RVs over 25-26 feet are not recommended due to site limitations. Bears are known to frequent the area, so proper food storage in bear-proof containers is required. The campground operates on a 16-day, 15-night stay limit with quiet hours between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Directions

From the Highway 24/12 junction near Torrey, turn south onto Highway 12 and travel approximately 22 miles. The campground is located on the east side of the highway, just south of Upper Pleasant Creek Campground.
