About
Lower Paradise Lake Cabin offers a truly remote wilderness experience in the scenic Chugach National Forest of south-central Alaska. This 12 x 14-foot rustic cabin sits on the north shore of Lower Paradise Lake in Paradise Valley, surrounded by alder, willow, and spruce forest at approximately 1,340 feet elevation. Spectacular views of glacier-covered mountains and alpine peaks are visible from the cabin, with some glaciers viewable right from the front door. The cabin sleeps 6 and is equipped with a wood stove, table, splitting maul, crosscut saw, and an outhouse. A rowboat with oars is provided for fishing grayling on the small alpine lake. The cabin does not include running water, electricity, mattresses, bedding, cooking utensils, or cut firewood. Visitors must be self-sufficient and prepared to handle emergencies, as inclement weather may extend trips by 2-5 days. The area offers excellent opportunities for fishing, hunting during designated seasons, wildlife viewing (moose, black and brown bears, Dall sheep, and mountain goats), and exploration. While there are no maintained trails, day hikes lead to even better views of surrounding glacier fields. Wild berries ripen in late summer to fall, and wildflowers bloom in spring and early summer. Access is by floatplane only, approximately 15 minutes from Moose Pass or 20 minutes from Seward.
Directions
Access is via floatplane only: 15 minutes from Moose Pass or 20 minutes from Seward. There is no trail near the cabin, and access on foot is not recommended.
