About
Lotus OHV Camp is strategically located in the Kisatchie Ranger District to provide convenient access for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts riding the Sandstone Multi-Use Trail system. The campground operates as a first-come, first-served facility with basic but adequate amenities for OHV campers. A connecting spur trail from the Sandstone Trail enters directly into the back of the camp, allowing riders easy access from their vehicles to the trail system.
The campground features flush toilets, hand-pump drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Dogs are permitted but must be leashed. The facility is designed primarily for OHV use, and horses are not allowed. Sandstone Trail use requires an additional $5 per operator daily fee beyond the campground fee.
The Sandstone Trail system offers diverse terrain and scenic views through the piney woods of Natchitoches Parish. The trail is designated for OHVs, motorcycles, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking. Motorized use of the Sandstone Trail is seasonally restricted, with closure periods typically from early January through late April to protect the trail during wet conditions.
Directions
From the intersection of I-49 and Highway 6 in Natchitoches, drive west on Highway 6 for 4 miles. Turn left (south) on Louisiana Highway 117 and proceed 16 miles to Forest Highway 59, Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway. Turn left (east) on FH 59 and go 4.1 miles to the camp, a signed location on the right (south).
