About

Hunter Camp is a free, primitive camping area nestled in the heart of Kisatchie National Forest in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. Managed by the Calcasieu Ranger District, this rustic campground offers a camping loop with a vault restroom facility. The site provides a true backcountry experience with no potable water available, requiring campers to bring their own water supply. The campground is ideally positioned for exploring the surrounding forest. The Ouiska Chitto Trail passes nearby, and the Longleaf Scenic Area with the Big Branch Trail runs adjacent to the camp. Activities include day hiking, wildlife viewing, and enjoying the longleaf pine ecosystem that defines this region of the national forest. As a primitive hunter's camp style facility, Hunter Camp offers minimal amenities but maximum solitude. The area is first-come, first-served with no reservations required and no camping fee charged.
