About

Oak Camp is a primitive campground nestled within the National Red Dirt Wildlife Management Preserve in the Kisatchie Ranger District of Kisatchie National Forest. The camp serves as a designated horse camp and hunter's camp, making it ideal for equestrians exploring the surrounding trails and hunters pursuing game in the wildlife preserve. Facilities are minimal but functional: vault toilets are provided, though there is no potable water on site. Campers should arrive fully self-sufficient with water and supplies. Dogs are welcome but must remain leashed. The camp is free of charge and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. The location offers a quiet, rustic setting away from developed recreation areas. Note that OHV camping is not permitted here. Access requires navigating forest roads, so visitors should be prepared for unpaved conditions.
