About
Located in the Calcasieu Ranger District of Kisatchie National Forest, Fullerton Lake Recreation Complex offers a unique blend of history and outdoor recreation. The site was once home to the Fullerton Sawmill and community, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Today, visitors can walk the 1.6-mile Fullerton Mill Trail to view the ruins and foundations of what was once one of the largest sawmill operations in the South.
The recreation complex provides camping areas suitable for trailers, campers, and tents, with sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. The campground features flush restrooms, potable water, and trash receptacles. Anglers can enjoy bank fishing along the lake shore, and paddlers can launch canoes and kayaks from the non-motorized boat ramp.
The area also offers single and group day-use picnic facilities, a children's playground, hiking and biking trails, and interpretive exhibits. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Check-in is at 6:00 a.m. and checkout is at noon, with quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
