About
Lost Lake Group Unit offers a designated group camping site within the larger Lost Lake Campground complex, situated on the northern edge of Lost Lake in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground sits beneath a mixed-conifer forest canopy with scenic mountain views and is located approximately 24 miles east of Tonasket, Washington. The group site can accommodate up to 100 people and is available by reservation only. The site features picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, and access to drinking water and flush toilets. A swimming dock on Lost Lake is within walking distance, as is the Lost Lake Amphitheater. The lake itself provides fishing opportunities for rainbow and eastern brook trout, with a boat ramp available (electric motors only, no internal combustion engines allowed). The surrounding area offers several hiking opportunities, including the Big Tree Trail, an easy 0.8-mile interpretive trail that connects to a loop highlighting two 600-year-old western larch trees, particularly stunning when wildflowers bloom in June. The Strawberry Mountain Trail begins just outside the campground entrance and climbs 1.5 miles to Strawberry Mountain. The area supports diverse wildlife including deer, black bear, cougar, bald eagles, common loon, and migratory birds, with gray wolves and Canada lynx occasionally present in nearby ecosystems.
