About

Longs Peak Campground sits at 9,500 feet elevation in a forested area about 20 minutes south of Estes Park on Highway 7. The campground serves as a base camp for climbers attempting Longs Peak (14,259 feet), the highest summit in Rocky Mountain National Park. All 26 sites are tent-only and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and access to food storage lockers for bear-country compliance. Vault toilets are available year-round, but there is no potable water anywhere in the campground. Campers must bring all drinking water and water for extinguishing campfires. Sites accommodate up to 8 people with one vehicle per site. The campground operates seasonally from early July through early September. A timed entry permit is required to access Rocky Mountain National Park, and camping here does not include park entrance. Wildlife including black bears, elk, and deer frequent the area.
