* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...Southern Cayuga County. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest lake effect snow will be near Sennett for Cayuga County. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible Tuesday morning. Widespread blowing snow will create whiteout conditions and occasional blizzard conditions. Snowfall amounts will significantly decrease across the far southern end of Cayuga County.

Long Point State Park is situated on the east side of Cayuga Lake on a distinctive V-shaped spit of land extending into the water. Located just south of the village of Aurora and surrounded by Finger Lakes wine country, the park serves primarily as a day-use facility with one unique accommodation option. The park offers a full-service cottage directly on the lake that sleeps four people. The cottage includes a bedroom with double bed, bathroom, living room with sleeper sofa, wood stove, and kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator, and sink. Outside features include a private boat dock, picnic table, fire ring, grill, and small lawn area. The cottage operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-October, with a 7 or 14-night minimum stay during peak season (Saturday to Saturday only) and a 2-night minimum during non-peak times. Day-use amenities include a stony beach with supervised swimming, bathhouse, playground, four-lane boat launch with temporary docking, gazebo, and picnic areas with tables and grills. The park provides 4 miles of hiking trails and access to Cayuga Lake, the longest and widest of the eleven Finger Lakes. Nearby attractions include multiple state parks and numerous wineries in the Finger Lakes region.
