About

Brady's Camp is one of two free campgrounds on the Mt. Hough Ranger District of Plumas National Forest. Situated at approximately 7,400 feet elevation in a remote mountain setting, this small campground offers 6 first-come, first-served campsites managed by the Forest Service. The campground is particularly notable for being one of the few sites on the Mt. Hough Ranger District that provides direct OHV trail access from the campground, making it a popular destination for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts. It also attracts hunters during deer season due to its backcountry location and wildlife access. Access requires driving 8 miles up Squirrel Creek Road (County Road 401) from Highway 70, an uphill gravel road not suitable for RVs or trailers. The high elevation means snow can linger late into spring and may force early closures in fall. The campground offers a primitive experience with no potable water, no restrooms, and no fees, ideal for self-sufficient campers seeking solitude in the mountains.

Directions

From Highway 70 east of Quincy, turn north onto Squirrel Creek Road (County Road 401) and continue 8 miles toward Argentine Lookout. The uphill gravel road is not recommended for RVs or trailers.
