About

Little Stony Campground is a small, primitive campground nestled in the Little Stony Creek drainage within Mendocino National Forest's Grindstone Ranger District. The 8-site campground sits at approximately 1,500 feet elevation amid chaparral vegetation and scattered mixed conifers, offering a quiet escape for campers seeking a no-frills forest experience. The campground is particularly popular during winter and early spring when Little Stony Creek flows at full strength, drawing anglers for stream fishing. Each site features a fire ring and picnic table, with vault toilets available. Campers should bring their own drinking water as no potable water is provided on site. The campground accommodates trailers up to 24 feet. Little Stony serves as a convenient base for off-highway vehicle recreation, with the Little Stony OHV Staging Area located nearby providing access to the Grindstone OHV trail system. All OHV users must comply with California registration requirements (Green or Red Sticker or Highway License) and safety regulations including helmets, spark arresters, and the 96 dBA sound limit.
