Little Isabella River Campground
Open for the 2026 season from May 8 through October 1. Water systems are now operational. Six sites are first-come-first-served; five sites are reservable through Recreation.gov. Quiet hours 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Due to lingering freezing temperatures at Tofte Ranger District campgrounds, water will not be available until May 15th and visitors should plan to bring their own supply.
About
Little Isabella River Campground is a small, secluded retreat in the central Superior National Forest, situated among towering red and white pines at 1,900 feet elevation. Located 4.5 miles west of Isabella, Minnesota, the campground offers 11 sites split between first-come-first-served and reservable options, with four sites available for long-term seasonal camping. The Little Isabella River flows alongside the campground, offering excellent brook trout fishing in its riffled waters. Four sites provide ride-in and ride-out OHV access via a short quarter-mile connector trail to the forest OHV system. The surrounding Superior National Forest offers hiking, canoeing, hunting, and berry and mushroom picking opportunities. All sites are back-in only with no electrical hookups, best suited for tent camping or small RVs under 24 feet. Quiet hours are observed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The campground lies within the boreal forest ecosystem, known for its clean lakes, diverse wildlife, and colorful cultural history.
Directions
From MN-61, turn onto MN-1 at Illgen City. Continue for 4.5 miles west of Isabella to the campground entrance.
