About

Little Fort Campground sits in the George Washington National Forest near a meadow that once served as a rest stop for stagecoach travelers. This minimally developed recreation area offers 9 primitive campsites on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations required. The campground's main draw is its direct access to the Peters Mill Run/Taskers Gap OHV trail system, which spans 36 miles and is recognized as the largest OHV system in Virginia. The trails offer rugged adventure for ATV and off-highway vehicle enthusiasts, though an OHV Special Recreation Permit is required for trail use. Facilities are basic: vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited, and stays are limited to 14 days within any 30-day period. Bear-safe food storage practices are required.
