About

Lion Creek Outfitter is a primitive horse camp located in the Flathead National Forest in Lake County, Montana. The site serves outfitters and stock users accessing the backcountry via the Lion-Palisade Trail #25, which follows the Lion Creek drainage into the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. The trail climbs approximately 3,400 feet over 7.3 miles to Lion Creek Pass, with the full trail extending 13 miles. The area is heavily used by permitted outfitters running pack trips into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Stock users should bring weed-free certified hay as required on all Forest Service lands in Region One. This is a primitive backcountry staging area with minimal developed facilities. Campers should be self-sufficient with water, feed for stock, and all supplies needed for wilderness travel.

Directions

From Kalispell, Montana, take Highway 83 south for approximately 50 miles to Condon. Turn east onto Lion Creek Road (Forest Service Road 561) and continue for about 6 miles to reach the campground.
