About

Owl Creek Cabin is a rustic, single-room rental cabin located at the Owl Creek Packer Camp in the Swan Valley of Flathead National Forest, at an elevation of 4,200 feet. The 16-by-20 structure backs up to a stand of mixed conifers including lodgepole pine and Douglas fir. It sleeps up to four guests on two bunk beds with mattresses and features a propane fireplace for heat, electric lights, an electric cook stove with oven, microwave, dorm-size refrigerator, and dining utensils with cooking pots and pans. The cabin has an accessible entrance ramp and covered front porch. An outhouse serves as the restroom facility. Potable water is available from a source just outside the cabin from mid-May through mid-November; during winter months, guests must bring their own water supply. A horse corral is located approximately 200 feet from the cabin and can be reserved separately, making this a favorite destination for equestrians. The cabin sits about a half-mile from Holland Lake, which offers swimming, boating, and fishing. Numerous trails in the area provide hiking and horseback riding opportunities, with several leading into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. A general store is located about 20 minutes away in the town of Condon. Guests should be aware that grizzly bears are present in the area and must secure all food and trash appropriately.

Directions

From Montana Highway 83, turn east onto Holland Lake Road #44 near mile marker 35. After 2.5 miles, turn right on Owl Loop Road #9558. Go about 0.5 miles and turn right on Road #10121 to Owl Creek Packer Camp. The camp entrance is on the right. Continue straight through the camp, turn left at the end and drive past the corrals. The cabin is near the end of this loop on the right, just past the last corral.
