Morgan-Monroe State Forest encompasses over 24,000 acres of hardwood forest in Monroe and Morgan counties, offering primitive camping for those seeking a rustic outdoor experience. The forest features three distinct campgrounds: Mason Ridge with 19 sites located behind the fire tower north of the forest office, Oak Ridge with 10 overflow sites, and Scout Ridge Youth Tent Campground with 6 larger sites designed for scouts and organized groups. All campsites provide a picnic table and grill, with vault toilets serving each campground. Drinking water is available seasonally from April through October 31, after which systems are winterized. The forest also permits backcountry camping with registration, limited to groups of six or fewer and maximum three-night stays. Beyond camping, visitors can explore the forest's extensive trail system, including the 10-mile Three Lakes Trail and the 7.5-mile Low Gap Trail. The Scout Ridge Nature Preserve protects old-growth timber within the forest boundaries. Hunting and fishing are permitted in season with appropriate licenses.

From Indianapolis, head south on State Road 37 for approximately 35 miles. The forest office is located 5 miles south of Martinsville or 16 miles northeast of Bloomington on SR 37.
