About

Often described as one of the lesser-known jewels of Sumter National Forest, Lick Fork Lake provides a peaceful retreat for campers seeking solitude and easy access to outdoor recreation. The nine primitive campsites are nestled among dense woods surrounding a 12-acre lake, creating an intimate forest camping experience on the Long Cane Ranger District. The recreation area features an accessible fishing pier and a boat ramp for non-motorized watercraft. Anglers will find the lake stocked and accessible, though a valid South Carolina fishing license is required. The easy 2-mile Lick Fork Lake Hiking Trail loops around the lake, and nearby Horn Creek Trail offers additional hiking and biking opportunities. This is a primitive campground with basic facilities. Porta-toilets are available along with restrooms in the campground area, but potable water is not provided. Campers should bring their own drinking water. Sites are first-come, first-served with a 14-day stay limit.
