Named for poet Sidney Lanier, the lake is renowned for its aqua-blue water, 690 miles of shoreline, and over 100 small islands. The park features a group picnic shelter available for reservation, along with access to a designated swim beach, picnic areas, and restrooms. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational activities including swimming, fishing, boating, wake boarding, and kayaking. The nearby Laurel Ridge Hiking Trail, a 3.5-mile loop, offers excellent views of the lake and Chattahoochee River. Anglers can expect to catch bass, catfish, and panfish. The shelter is ideal for group gatherings and events in a scenic lakeside setting. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility is available for advanced reservations only through Recreation.gov and operates seasonally. Day-use park fees apply to all visitors and are not included in shelter reservations. Alcohol, pets, and fireworks are prohibited, and parking is first-come, first-served.
