About

Lakeview Campground sits at 5,400 feet elevation on a hillside overlooking Parker Canyon Lake in the Canelo Hills region of Coronado National Forest. Campsites are dispersed among a stand of oak and juniper trees, offering a peaceful, less-crowded alternative to more accessible recreation areas. The campground provides convenient access to the lake, with a short walk to the lakeshore and a short drive to the boat launch, fishing pier, and accessible paved areas. The 5-mile lakeshore trail begins near the campground and features interpretive signs and benches at prime wildlife viewing spots, with two barrier-free viewing areas. The lake and surrounding area are excellent for observing seasonal waterfowl migrations, and bald eagles are regularly spotted during winter months. Osprey migrate through in fall, and visitors often see Coues white-tailed deer and occasional families of coatimundi, the long-tailed southwestern cousin of the raccoon. Black bears are common in the area. Parker Canyon Lake supports both cold and warm water fish species, including stocked rainbow trout and resident populations of bass, sunfish, and catfish. Boating is permitted with motors limited to 10 horsepower or less. The nearby marina offers boat rentals. The campground operates first-come, first-served with quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
